"Pillows!...Many of them, and mine!"
Sorry for the wait, everyone! I got home on June 3rd, and have hardly had a chance to eat, nonetheless write a coherant blog entry. I'm back at work, and back to my normal life, so it's difficult to switch back to Unicycle Superhero mode. Now that people around town are seeing my face again, they have a lot of questions for me. "How was your trip?" Well, it was wet, of course. I made it, despite the rain, and wind, and hail, and ticks, and mountains, and trucks, and heartbreak, ...

Highs and Lows in the Hills of Vermont
I'm rounding the corner, and heading back to Maine. In fact, I'm a mere quarter mile from the road I started on. The trouble is I've got other things on my mind lately, so it's hard to focus on the road. To catch up quickly since my last entry, I believe I was in Waltham, here's the summary. From Waltham, I rode to Cumberland Hill, Rhode Island. The next day, to Connecticut. Oh, god, what a miserable night that was. I'd accidentally climbed to the highest point in ...

Water you crazy?
Things have resumed. I rode a very short ride to Waltham,Massachusetts, and tomorrow, a loooong ride to Rhode Island. I'm trying to make up a little time after such a lengthy delay in Westford."I'll rest on Friday, and be out on Saturday. What's that? Torrential downpours? Hmmm.... Maybe I'll leave on Sunday. Flooding, you say? I'll be back on the road Monday morning. State of emergency?! How about Tuesday? No? Hmmm..... Well, foreward my mail down here, because it doesn't look like I'll be moving any time soon."My rest day turned into a rest week very quickly, but was not entirely unproductive. I did some interviews for...

State of Emergency
I came prepared for rain. I came prepared for sun. I came prepared for bugs. I came prepared for snow, although slightly. Clearly, I was not prepared for natural disasters of any sort. So, it looks like I've moved into this house in Westford, Massachusetts. I planned a rest day here for Friday. Saturday, my aunt wouldn't let me leave, and since I'd have had to camp that night, I didn't argue. Today it was worse. Tomorrow, the rivers are supposed to reach their highest point. We just went to get Ice Cream at Kimball Farms, ...

My First Week!
Greetings from Westford Massachusetts! This is my first rest day, and the house is empty, except for the poodle, so I'm trying to update everyone before my pancakes are done. A week on the road, and things are going well, with few exceptions. I hardly know where to begin. I'll try to keep this short, though. First off, I was scared Friday night and Saturday morning when I was getting ready to leave. I was terrified. I didn't feel prepared, and I was a wreck. However, I had to do it, so despite my terror, ...

good things come in flat tires
I can see the goal, and I'm advancing towards it. Sounds simple, but for a while, I was afraid I'd never be prepared, and never be able to actually make this happen. It seems like every minor setback has compounded to make another piece of the tour more successful. A few weeks ago, I was going to ride my first 50-mile day. I'd never ridden that far before, but I new I had to, so on my day off, with the sun warming the air, I set out with nothing but a bag of M&Ms ...

Who pressed the panic button?
Wow, my apologies for not updating this earlier, but I've been in panic mode the past week. I'm trying to sort everything out at work, so I don't get fired next week, I haven't done a thing to get ready for my mom's wedding in two weeks, I'm still collecting the last of my equipment, but the biggest blow of all has been my trailer.
